Pimpy goodness help needed please!!

Hey guys - as per some suggestions in the previous thread - I've been trying to "lift" my little monkey friend, but I'm having trouble getting it right.

Could I please ask that you'all have a go - thanks .....

Thanks P-E .... as well as dodging the monkey - how did you darken the background?? Is that just a lowering of the brightness??

I worked in layers keeping everything but the monkey as was.

Played with levels and curves on the monkey with some selective sharpening.

Flattened the image and gave it a final USM of 20,50,4.

not perfect (by a long way) but processing was 1 button click using all the defaults in Kodak's Austin Development Center - Photoshop Plugins & More! kodak digital gem SHO professional

btw - I didn't try any other 'auto fix' tools, there are good free ones around that may work as well / better,. try Picasa - has auto contrast type stuff that sometimes does a good job

I'm rubbish at PP but thought i would have a quick go, opened in elements and used Fred Miranda's shadow recovery
