Is is possible to make a background 'frosty'?

A question for all you wonderful Pixalo people that can do clever things in Photoshop...

Is it possible (and if so how) to make the background of this image look as if it was frosty?

It was taken on a chilly, bright morning but no frost. I wondered if the power of Photoshop was able to make the ground look frosty and cold.

Re: Is is possible to make a background 'frosty'?

You'd be hard pushed to make this look cold and frosty Ali as it was taken on a warm day looking at the lighting. You could change the tone completely by making it mono and then adding a cold blue hue to it, this would certainbly make it feel colder. Adding frost is not easy, at least to make it look convincing. Actually snow and rain are a doddle compared with frost.

I've had a quick play just to show you what I mean with the blue effect but I am not claiming anyone would be fooled that it was a frosty morning. Does make it a bit colder though

Cheers.
Rob

Thanks Rob - something to think about and thank you for taking the time

It was pretty chilly day when it was taken - but it really doesn't look nippy by any stretch of the imagination. No worries, it's not important - perhaps 'snow' is the way forward?

As your furry friend is quite well defined against the background, I'd be tempted to mask him/her out and replace the background with a genuine photo of frosty grass. No reason you couldn't blur it again too.
