Selecting backgrounds in Photoshop.

I have to admit to being not great at some of photoshops functions.

What I'd really like to know is how to select things easily. Rob Barron managed to select a background of one of my shots in the "Macro" thread in the photo sharing forum.

Really like to know if there is an easy way to do this.

Re: Selecting backgrounds in Photoshop.

There are loads of ways to make selections. Rob barron has tutorials for two ways - this one deals with replacing skies, and this one selecting by colour.

The lasso tools and the magic wand are also useful, but remember that you can change a background or sky by using two images (or a duplicated image) on different layers and blending them with a layer mask.

As I said - there are loads of ways, but I suggest you try with a simple image at first and use different methods so you can see where there are advantages with one way over another.
