Re: 2007 b/w etc
That first mono is very good - if I had to make any crit I would probably like to see a bit more space above the statues head. But...just my take on it

Re: 2007 b/w etc
I think that you monos of your people work very well. Better than the color.
They are so tight and so focused that they show every physical blemish, defect, etc, and that is quite discomforting for the viewer. We tend to look at people from a little distance and perhaps to unconsciously ignore the warts, hairs, pimples, bad teeth, etc. So these people images that you have been posting are jarring, forcing us to see the subjects as they really are, without makeup, blurring or other photoshopping, and in black and white. The mono in itself causes the viewer to see the object differently, and your submissions end up wildly uncomfortable. Bet that people can't look at them for very long. So, way to push the envelope. I love it!!!! skip |

Re: 2007 b/w etc
The thing is, the mono stuff I get. It's the weird filter or action you are using on the coloured ones I don't figure at all. For me they do absolutely nothing for the picture, they don't help the picture say anything or do anything, they are just weird.
Go over to the monos and I understand where you are at. The pictures work so much better and it feels like the processing is doing something that impacts the viewer. The fuzzy dreadlocks guy is really interesting, a face absolutely chock full of character and the treatment is really powerful. I remember ones you did of him with this weird filter thing and it did absolutely nothing for me whatsoever yet this more basic treatment is excellent. I would add very quickly here that this is entirely as I see the images. Other eyes will view them completely differently and that is the beauty of the creative arts. As Skip says, keep pushing the envelope and see which bits the stamp sticks to ![]() Cheers, Rob
