Re: 3 takes on a landscape

sorry, doesn't work for me. I like the effect (blue sky/sepia foreground) but the clouds are too big... they just don't look right to me. clouds get smaller towards the horizon.

sorry :/

Thank you too. I worried myself that the sky looked too fake. I thought it added nice drama to the feel of the photo tho. Twas a toss up in my mind. Thanks for the input. Just goes to show, one man's treasure is another mans dirtpile. Ill work up a redo with smaller sized clouds.

Re: 3 takes on a landscape

Good idea adding the sky VE....adds a real WOW factor.....although not sure they should be touching landscape. Only thing that needs tweaking is to get rid of white behind trees to left & right of photo. Can't tell if these are :-
- clouds from original shot.....in which case clone them out in sky shot before adding
- or haloing from sharpening after sky has been added.

Either ways it's one the hardest jobs to get right in PS....masking becomes unrealistic of such detailed trees. I usually duplicate layers before any sharpening that might cause halos, or adding a sky. That way I can always mask back the join between land & sky to make a more fluid transition.

Love the last B&W conversion also

1st and 3rd photo's for me, and like Gary said the 1st is one hell of a good shot what with the hedge on the right hand side leading you in fantastic. The 3rd B&W for me is also very good as I love the tones. Cracking shots thanks for sharing them.

Well, I borrowed my boss's 19-35 lens, and shots that I couldnt hope to capture correctly with my meager 24-85 magicallly appeared. Plus, being forced to look around and find a good LS subject, helped. Thats the best thing about these "contests". Forcing you to look where you dont normally look, and look for things you dont normally look for.

Borrowed a sigma 15mm fisheye this eve, pics to be posted soon.
