Alhambra
Took these yesterday, surprisingly it's the first time we've been to the Alhambra in Granada especially as it is only a 5minute journey from our house and we've lived here now for 6months.
Anyway just thought i'd share them with you. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Alhambra
Nice set. You must have so much stuff over there to photograph it must be difficult to keep yourself in check. When I think in comparison what is available to me within a 5 minute drive I get quite depressed!

Re: Alhambra
Fantastic series, great lighting in all. I especially like the lighting in #3, it adds dimmension to the buildings.

Hmmm, well, there's.... uhhhh..... Ok, you're right! Dunstable is not a feast for the lens. Is the Windsock still there, with its weird shaped roof at the bottom of the road leading up to the Downs? Guess you've got Whipsnade Zoo and the White Lion chalk figure..... getting desperate here LOL Sod it Dab, I have one piece of advice: do what i did when i lived in Dunstable - MOVE Cheers, Rob

Re: Alhambra
Sorry, forgot to mention the pics. Lovely set Lolyton, I love the landscape shot and the 2nd reflection shot. The first is lovely to but might I suggest literally a 2 mm crop top and bottom, just to remove the very thin line of sky/sky reflection. I think it would look better then, I absolutely love the colours and patterns it shows.
Really nice set.... and shame on you for not visiting sooner :o) Cheers, Rob |

Re: Alhambra
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. When a place looks as beautiful as this, the photography is easy. Though having said that i was trying to balance a 2year old on my shoulders at the same time.

Rob, I might just frame your post!! The Windsock is long gone. Houses and flats, now. So is the nightclub that was further up towards the downs on the other side, can't even remember it's name now. I've been here since 1975. It is convenient for the commute to London. When did you escape? |

Re: Alhambra
I escaped from Dunstable in 1982. Gotta say it wouldn't be half as bad if it wasn't next to one of the grottiest holes in the country called Luton! Lived there as a kid and my dad lived there for over 50 years. What a horrible excuse for a town that is! At least Dunstable is a lot more pleasant even if it is rather lacking in anything decent to see.
When I think about it, I think they were talking about closing the Windsock even when I was there. Shame though as it was one of the few landmarks Dunstable had other than the Downs. Used to go up there at Easter as a kid for the egg rolling! Showing my age now I guess. You're right though, it is a good place to commute to the Big Smoke from and makes a convenient place to ecape back from when work is done :o) Is the Queensway hall still there and do they still have a few decent concerts there? Saw Judie Tzuke, Hawkwind and Ian Anderson (of Jethro Tull) there during my time. Anyway, better stop half-hinching Loly's thread, sorry Lol. To Loly's comment, I don't agree that the photography is easy when a place is beautiful. You still have to find the right place to capture it to the best of its possibilities. You have done a good job here, especially with your little 'un sat on your shoulders so take some credit matey :o) Cheers, Rob

Re: Alhambra
Where is Dunstable?
I don't think that there is a lot to photograph where I live either. No castles, wonderful churches, fantastic hills and landscapes. But the more I think about it, the more I feel that one just has to go out there and make something work. May not be the usual, and perhaps that is better, more creative. Now I must remove myself from my keyboard and take some pictures! skip |
