Hope you don't mind a bit of negative feedback? Sorry maz, but I don't think this is up to your usually high standard. From here, it looks quite flat and the composition seems a little off too. Perhaps it could do with a little tweak of levels and cropping a bit off the bottom lhs to place the point of focus a little more comfortably? I'm normally a fan of your stuff but I just found this one a bit bland I guess. Sorry, just MHO x

hi marianne
i am not experienced enough to critique on your stuff, but i like the composition, and the overall colour is subtle and pleasing. |

LOL, yeah, I'm quite used to the vaguries of it's display though and was allowing for that. It's the color balance that is a bit rubbish, as opposed to the gamma, so I'm gonna stand by my comments. for now

Hi Marianne
So that where you have been hiding - missed a B cold Ely and then show us photo of fruit blossom - it's not fair! |

I think that maybe it was the word 'bland' that made me feel moved to defend this image Mr Gandhi. I do think if anything it maybe a bit too saturated though having had another look at it. Tweaking the levels only made the highlights blow. To crop this from the right hand side would surely throw the focal point more central and somewhat less easy to view? I am certainly not precious about my work and value the opinions of others but your 'comment' was a 'critique' IMO

I think it just needs a healthy boost in contrast to make it an absolute cracker. DOF is spot on and the colour is great.

It's a lovely shot Marianne.
If I was to be critical the stamen look a little dark and the white areas could be whiter but this could all be improved in PS. The shot was well enough seen and taken

My post was for the first shot (we must have overlapped at posting) however this does stand (if slightly less) for the second.

Have to agree both pictures are good captures of the detail but seem a bit too subtle on the contrast. Guess I'm just used to seeing bright pictures.

I much prefer the second picture, a sense of "style" and depth with the reflections to increase interest. Is it possible to lighten and soften the upper left which seems to lead my attention away - but I never did concentrate where I should!
