Anchored Yacht

A couple of months ago I showed a similar pic to this.I had found it as a small jpeg in a folder on my hard drive. It was a scanned slide and I searched high and low for that slide but no luck.
I came across this as a PSD file on one of the first CD's I burned.Same scene, minutes later and a different angle. It was colour of course so I've had a play and toned it in 'Channel Mixer'.I am sure I would have taken quite a few of this scene but because the sky was pretty 'boring' in colour I must have thrown them out as non-keepers.I would have preferred the boat facing into the scene but this is all I'm left with.It has made quite a nice print though :

Re: Anchored Yacht

I like this, it has nice feel to it that reminds me of getting up very early in the morning to leave an anchorage in the hazy early morning sun.

Re: Anchored Yacht

Yeah, I like this a lot. Something about the simplicity - the boat facing the wrong way matters not one bit! Very nice!

Nice shot indeed, I bet I would look excellent on a large print.

Re: Anchored Yacht

Cheers guys.Theres a lesson in here for me and thats to not be to hasty to discard an image without using a bit of imagination of what could be.Photoshop is a powerful tool and makes darkroom processes much more accessible.I was never great in the B&W darkroom [though i did enjoy it] and I'm not great using Photoshop, but I find it easier to make both global and local adjustments. When [if ?!!!] I get a new computer and load my copy of CS3 I will buy one of the books on Photoshop and try to improve my 'techniques'.And give HDR a go.However,HDR is a much debated technique and I see lots of photographs on various sites whose main goal seems to have been to almost do away with shadows and the result for me is 'unreal'.But we all see things differently and so long as we are happy with what we achieve, that is the important bit.
