Angel of the North 2

This is another shot taken on my trip to Newcastle this week. The one I prefer is in the critique section. I wasn't sure whether to leave the person in or not, I think it provides some scale but would be better if they had stood up.

Re: Angel of the North 2

I think this one is wonderful, Ian. I like it more than the one in the critique section because of the deep emotion that it causes. The Angel against the very active sky is a great contrast, and I would keep the man in, He add tremendously to visualizing the scale.

Powerful stuff, this.

Re: Angel of the North 2

The detail and range of tone you've got in the clouds is great and really sets off the silhouette. The man does add scale which is important so I wouldn't remove him but it's a shame he's not stood somewhere else, maybe a little further from the feet looking up at the angel.

That aside this is a great shot.

cheers

Dan

Re: Angel of the North 2

I agree with what's been said here. As Danpen said, the ideal would be to have someone standing back from the Angel looking up, but this is still a great image.

Wow! Those clouds are fantastic!! What a great image! Good sense of scale. Only thing is the slight haloing round the statue. Good capture!

Re: Angel of the North 2

Very dramatic sky adds a dynamic impact to the angel. Great conversion which really works well.
