Re: another experiment
Good stuff there Fi, WTG for trying something new. When going high key like this, I try to ensure I have a full dynamic range, ie from full black to full white. There is a lot of grey here so maybe have a look and see if you can bring in the blacks as the whites are very dominant.
Good work, keep it up. Cheers, Rob Last edited by Rob Barron; 17-12-2006 at 17:46. |

Re: another experiment
Good idea & well worked. The occupied and unoccupied areas are about equal, I think it would work with 40% occupied and 60% unoccupied. None the less a good image.

Re: another experiment
I think that everyone has a different feeling of what hi key should be. The answer is all of the above. Whatever floats your boat.
I did this pimp of a xena image in the critique section. My feeling about hi key is that a lot is left to the imagination, for the viewer to fill in as he or she likes. So here, you can put whatever nose on her that you want ![]() skip

Re: another experiment
I definitely prefer the second of the two you did there Fiona. The first looks too bright, like it was done with an over-exposed picture. But as I said before, it wasn't so much the brightness per se as the overall restricted dynamic range. The second has a full range and looks more balanced.
However, in a sense it is an entirely different picture in the second one in that some will prefer one and some the other. Number 2 is just my own personal preference as I feel it is more balanced. Cheers, Rob |
