Re: anyone liking this?

I love the composition of it but I wonder whether colour would give it a bit more definition with the softness?

I think think this one needs a hint of colour, not strong or vivid.

Re: anyone liking this?

Like the composition Jen, but currently a bit flat. Keep trying though, as I saw a print of near exact same setup, last night, where the photgrapher had managed to catch all the lightest whistes, yet still reatined shadow detail...... it was awesome. Something to aim for !!

Re: anyone liking this?

Hope your OK witrh this Jen, but the shot below is purely an example of some processes you can follow to try & add a bit more punch to a flat shot. It is not attempt for a final shot.

- To add some more contrast, try adding a "levels" or "curves" adjustment layer. Do nothing with it, apart from changing blending mode from "normal" to "soft light". See the difference ?
- In this example the levels showed a gap to the left......pulled it in to get pure blacks in shadows.
- Added a curves level & pulled top right of line, up to the left, to lighten up the highlights only.
- The flower at the top was now too dark. Added FILTER - RENDER - LIGHTING EFFECTS - OMNI light.....placing circle over offending flower. Immediately afterwards went to EDIT - FADE LIGHTINNG EFFECTS & backed off % to about 30%.

Like I said I posted the above as some hints & tips on some processes you can try at home.......not as a final edit. Hope this helps.

Re: anyone liking this?

Yeah, Levels was going to be my main suggestion, so gotta agree with Dave - tho' think it needs the bottom cropped off as it's then a largish slab of dark (makes it too bottom 'heavy')

Re: anyone liking this?

Thanks a ton Dave, and the rest of ya. I wasnt sure what to do to get that look you got, and now I know. Advice and tips like these are what keeps us all here. Great job on it dave, I thought the image had potential, sometimes you just need a different perspective or method to get it right.
