Balloon over head

Guys and Girls
Please pass your skilled eyes over these selected six images I caught admitidly in a bit of a rush as I had to park the car and grab some gear.

Techie info
Canon 350D with the Sigma x2 TC and the standard no frills none APO DG EX 28-300. The 350D set to appeture priority of between 5.6 - 7.1 zoom range between 390 - 600.

I've only had the TC a few days and this is the first time I've used it in anger so to speak so all comments are most and warmly welcomed.

I think that kind of magnification needs to be tripod mounted. probably telling you stuff you already know

Here's one I took with the same kit but without the TC:

Kinda didn't think of the tripod at the time but will kind that in mind next time, thought I'd get away with it but still not used to the extra length and weight of the TC but hey it's early days yet

To help you post images in threads CT has written this.

If you need more help give us a shout and we will do our best.

All the pics that you have there of the balloon are suffering from camera shake unfortunately. At those focal lengths you need to be using a tripod or very fast shutter speeds at least equal to the length of your zoom. So for 400mm you should be using at least 1/400th sec.

Here's how to post pics Davey.

Shame Davey, they're just not sharp. Where you went wrong was selecting Aperture Priority. With a 300mm lens at full zoom and a 2X teleconverter, that's effectively a 600mm lens, which needs a safe minimum hand holding speed of 1/600th of a second!!

Shutter speed has to be your absolutely first consideration, so you set the required shutter speed and let the camera worry about the aperture, in other words, set Shutter Priority or TV as Canon like to call it.

A tripod only helps to kill your own/camera movement and isn't necessarily a help if the subject is moving.
