Re: beach + sunset

Nice set, Silver I really like #2 & #3, although #3 is a bit flat with no white in the shot. Maybe a tweak to bring out the clouds a bit more?

I'd like to see a bit more of what is out of shot on #1, I think the tops of the cranes need to be in there.

As it stands. #4 is better than #3. I like the overall blue/cool feel, but if #3 was tweaked, I think it would be the better one of the two.

You must be pleased with thes results. Did you get your feet wet?

Re: beach + sunset

thanks, the tide comes in really fast and before you know it you are standing the the water

I agree #3 is under contrasted esp compared to the first b+w but I was going for a different feel (well you know)

the cranes are in the original,. I thought I'd crop it a bit for a different look as the original seemed a bit predictable. I'll post it anyway - it's probably ok but it didn't excite me

I haven't been out taking any pictures in the last month or two and going down the beach is 'tried and tested',. (need to get more creative or find ano venue) so the shots are similar to previous ones for me but at least it was good to get out and play with the camera

yeah - I think you are right,. I took the shot as an obvious composition and was trying a more creative crop but I don't think it worked

thanks

Re: beach + sunset

I definitely far prefer the uncropped version as the lovely texture is mostly in the FG. In the cropped version, the burnt out area beyond the back of the digger is very obvious and catches the eye but in this one that section is a much smaller portion of the picture and doesn't have the same effect as much.

In the cropped version, the cranes are cropped in ways that don't work, the arm of the middle crane runs along the top of the picture, half in and half out. I think it needs to be one or the other, preferably in I think. But you have put the priginal up and for me that is the one to go with.

Of the others, No 2 is my favourite with the sun acting as a focal point and giving a greater mood to the picture. The 3rd one lacks that and is a bit flat though of course compositionally it is fine.

The 4th one is stronger because the sky colour takes our eye through the picture. Pleasant shot but No 2 holds my attention more strongly.

Good set.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: beach + sunset

i like the others prefer the original,,, there is a lot of interest in the foreground and the eye is led forward into the image. I love number 4 tho for me this is the best of hte lot. i sut want to look..... and look more at it, its so peaceful and serene..... calm and tranquil........ahhhhhhh a lovely image to chill out to!

Re: beach + sunset

I still prefer the original shot Silver, by cropping in close the burnt out area behind the digger becomes too dominant and pulls the eye away from the rest of the scene. That's the only bit that is a problem, the interest is there in the rest of the picture so ordinarily this crop would work fine (with the cranes removed as you have done) but that light is very strong.

Cheers,
Rob
