Well after going to Belfast Zoo last month I've only just got around to processing the image's now

Despite it being a very warm and sunny day most of the animals were either hiding or inside so I ended up spending most of my time there shooting the Gull's that were trying to steal the fish from the Seals.

Here's four non-flying shot's (I'm a bit better at these, kind of ) from the day:-

I also tried my hand at shooting them on the wing (I'm not so good at these )

Not so good!!?? Sonsey, you do yourself an injustice, they are superb! That third one, the clarity of the bird against the tree.......you feel you could pick it off the page!

As a first real attempt of getting bird's on the wing I'm pretty happy with them. The 3rd flying one is the one I'm happiest with out of that group, but even then I find the branch's distracting, the other's just arn't sharp enough... but you have to start somewhere eh?

Great shots ! Like the one with the fish in his mouth ! probably one he nicked of the seals ;-)

Thanks Dave, your right there, when you use it right it gives excellent results

Your exactly right, the splash just to the left of the bird is from the seal which was in hot persuit

I gotta agree, you sold yourself short saying you werent so good at those shots.

Great, I too like the one against the tree the best, it jumps off my screen.

Iain, these are fantastic captures of the gulls. When I lived in Belfast and Greenisland many moons ago, I never went to the Belfast Zoo.

That's a shame Patzt, it's quite a good Zoo (if a bit small) with plenty of shooting oppertunities that are not behind glass, unlike alot of other Zoo's these days

...I have to admit that untill last year when I first got my camera, I hadn't been there in about 20 years now I've been 3 times in 12 months

I'm sure there's some better options in Ontario though
