Re: Bless all the children

#1 Excellent DoF here, Fangman. Pity we can't see the priest's eyes, as he's looking down. I'd be tempted to crop out the child's head on the RHS, which I think would be preferable to having half an ear chopped off and this would also decentralise the priest.

#2 Gorgeous little girl You got great skin tone here, marred only by quite a bit of noise over her face + neck which is perhaps due to compression, but more likely a focus thing, as her teeth seem to be in sharper focus than her eyes, + it looks like you've used quite a shallow DoF on these. Again, she's looking down, whereas eye contact would've been good in this shot (I realise that was difficult to achieve with the priest, as he was rather busy at the time )

Both a little oversaturated, but still good shots.

Hope you don't mind a bit of C+C here, Fangman, but moving from birds to people is quite a change for you, so I thought you'd appreciate the feedback

Re: Bless all the children

Good shots, Fang.

Also when photographing kids, it is usually better to get to their eye level. 2 reason, better shot and it doesn't seem like a grownup looking down on the child.

Re: Bless all the children

Thanks for the comments - was taking pics of kids long before birds. . . Have done well in competition and asked by families around our village to do family photographs which they have had canvas printed to grace "grandma" walls in the area. This was very much a grab shot between taking family groups - like having 14 wedding parties to record so very much unplanned - just couldn't resist the colours and solomn face. The happy crowds in the Church garden made it like a summer village fete and sad to say the only family group I didn't get was ours! Still not forgiven by my wife but fortunately other families all happy and "booking" me for next year. The sad thing is nowdays is the reluctance to post child pictures on the web without permission. Skip - if I got down any lower at my age . . .I would have needed help to get me back up!

I did wonder about that, after I posted my comment, sorry to have been presumptuous there, Fangman
