Hi
![]() Here's 3 different bluebell shots taken over the past 2 weekends. First one at Gartson Woods,Dorset - In colour infrared. ![]() Next is a macro shot using my new toy, wireless flash underlighting a slight front fired macro flash shot. This and the one below taken at Roydon Woods, New Forest. ![]() The last one is a HDR image with a fog filter applied to it. (I have been playing with a demo of Tiffen DFX for this and the colour IR). ![]() Comments welcome.

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Not a fan of IR, so no surprise I don't like #1. The colours look as if they have been applied in a duotone attempt.
#2 is nice, but I'd prefer to see a more isolated flower in focus rather than having an overlap with an out of focus one. Easier to say that do, I admit. #3 is really nice - right up my street |

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Big fan of IR, did you use a filter? or just PS the colors in. I perfer lighter colors and a well managed white balance.
Your hdr looks good, but the fog filter looks like it made it a little soft, might have looked better with part of it mask out in the front. The blue bells are just right. Glad to see someone reach out and try to expand their interests. |

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Hi All, Thanks for the comments.

I used Tiffen DFX demo for that. You can download it from Dfx Software - Tiffen.Com, and it's fully functional for 15 days. I saw a review of it in this month Photo Monthly magazine and downloaded it to try the colour IR out. It's quite good with different maskings etc, which I could of maybe used more selectively on the fogged one (though I kinda like it like it is ). Not sure if it is worth the full price though, and some of the effects, especially polarizer are odd compared to using a filter for real.

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Not a fan of the first 2. Sorry. I like the third, there is a nice balance of colour overall which compliments the softness of the image.

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Fist two aren't doing much for me, but I really like the 3rd one, that soft glow lends a lovely light + airy feel to the image. There's a good range of tones, giving it great depth. This is definitely one to lift the spirits ... just the job for a rainy day like today! Hang that one on your wall, I reckon

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Sorry I don't like the first one. I do like 3. the fog filter adds a bit of magic to the scene.

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
Thanks for the comments again, I agree the 3rd is my fav too. I guess the IR is a matter of taste, and perhaps not the best scene at that.

Re: Bluebell Wood Shots
i like nr 3 - looks like from some tale. nr 1 is interesting but so unreal. nr 2 is quite good but DOF is small and those flowers are too big for that kind of macro so not enouth details for me. however nice colours and i like that black background.
