All animals are a food stuff to someone in the world! There is a stunning mono shot by Ansel Adams of a mountain side with sheep and the title 'Sheep May Safely Graze'. Any subject is a good subject if it makes a good picture :o)

Just don't go past the sheep making a noise like mint sauce.... totally unfair <g>

I spent a .good part of my life looking after animals ,the fact that many animals are destined to become food for us is no excuse for treating them with anything but respect .I found the remark[ but then sheep aee a food product] Lacking good taste In fact offensive

Fox....lighten up please....I am sorry that the remark offended you....I was trying to be humorous, and emphasize the fact the the images didn't really affect me, and I guess it didn't come off well in a lot of people's eyes....so I appologize.

Have to say the third one is my favorite. I'v always liked sheep, maybe as a friend of Mum's used to breed pedigree sheep & we used to go up and feed the lambs.

Skip was only having a laugh and I hope my reply didn't make it sound like I took it seriously. I have tried shouting 'mint sauce' at a sheep to scare but it just ignored me and carried on chewing the green stuff.... but they do say 'grass destroys your brain' so maybe they were too far gone to notice <g>

Ok, sorry Foxes, that probably upset you as well. But let me just ask a serious question: is taking a photo of something tragic wrong? I mean, ok so animals might be destined for the dinner table (a friend of mine had two pet geese whose names were Christmas and Easter because of their intended final destination table!) but taking photos of them is not glorying in their intended end, it is creating a picture of them alive.

But what about such things as 'mass slaughter of seal pubs' which is clearly an emotive subject for a lot of people. Is it wrong to take such a photo unless it is intended to stir people into action, eg in a newspaper or magazine? A journalist can obviously take pretty much anything (though there has been a strong reaction to images of a certain tyrant's gruesome end last week!) but can we as enthusiasts take pictures that might upset people or should we not feel such things are a problem? After all, many images are not liked by some groups: using myself as an example I do not like and am offended by images designed to be pornographic (not just nude photos, big difference!) but does that mean they are wrong?
