Re: callander house
Oooo Fi - I like these
I think the first one would benefit from a crop from the bottom to just above the line/path/stream running across the grass, and although I know the building is going away from the viewer, but it llooks like it could be rotated clockwise a tad. #2 is a bit tight on the top, but small points - great shots

Re: callander house
Whilst bowing to Grahams superior ability and knowledge I like the foreground in the first one the way it is. It puts the building into context with its surroundings and lets it breath. I would prefer a little less contrast in No 2. That said, they are both eye catching pictures and I like them both.

Re: callander house
Are you sure about that Charlotte. Horizontal, receding lines below eye level slope upwards whilst such lines above eye level slope downwards. Picture No 2 illustrates this very well.

Re: callander house
Both look to be oversharpened. Halos all round the roof, particularly round the pointy spires. Shame, as they could be nice pics. The house looks pasted on because of this.

Re: callander house
its not halos MB its chromatic abberation which when in a conversion to mono often gives the appearance of halos............. neither of the pics have been sharpened at all but both have had Lucis art on them.

Stand corrected. Needs attention still.

Maybe it's to do with distance + viewpoint, i.e. the building in #1 is far away + you might expect the imaginary lines of perspective to have levelled off by then, whereas in #2 the building is closer to the camera, where you'd expect perspective distortions. All I know is #1 looks like it needs rotating clockwise slightly, whereas #2 doesn't
