Candid Portraits
I was at a fundraiser for the greyhound and lurcher rescue I volunteer for today and there was ample opportunity to get the camera out! These are a few of the candid portraits I took
This guy had a really interesting, lived in face! And another face-painted child! I really like this one but wondered if I should somehow lose the bright part of the lower right of the picture. Cropping didn't work as it spoilt to overall balance of the photo. |

Re: Candid Portraits
Nice set, Angela. Here is one solution to your facepaint problem, (would have thought you'd grown out of this by now). Obviously, with a little more time to sort out the straight line at the top of the photo....

Re: Candid Portraits
Lovely set of shots
Notice how in the 2nd shot the light bouncing on to the persons face from a table or something else in front ?, lifts the shadow detail in the face. Who needs reflectors hey ![]() As for that 1st shot, absolutely perfect for Mono...so much texture. |

Re: Candid Portraits
Thanks guys!
You'd have thought wouldn't you!? Thank you for the suggestion Graham, I'm not usually a fan of softening round the edges but in this case I think it might just work! There were some pictures in cellophane on the table in front of her and the sun was shining directly onto them! |

Re: Candid Portraits
Some good candids! Think #1 could do with a touch of Levels (Auto might do it).
Do find the face painted child somewhat distracted by the highlights. It's a lovely shot and may be worth trying to clone in her dress (all the required elements are there. Just time consuming!) |

Re: Candid Portraits
I had another go at the facepaint picture and decided that, actually, I think the crop works OK!

Re: Candid Portraits
OK, OK, I've been to the gallery, and I think you have got away with it by rhe skin of your teeth! The black border looks good too.
I still like the oval crop, though.
