Cheers Gary / Dave. I appreciate your comments. Any tips? Hmm .... loads of memory. as you're going to shoot lots of pics of empty sky! These falcons are seriously fast, and I've got plenty of shots with just parts of the birds in frame or even just a cloudy sky A decent lens helps considerably too, I was using my Canon 100-400 IS L, which was essential for two reasons, 1, the image stablisation And 2,the 'L' glass giving me good enough images to enable me to crop them fairly heavily . Having not really tried to shoot moving birds like this before, I found that I was getting better results with both eyes open.. It was easier to track the birds better with my left eye, and then (hopefully) get the shot that I required (if that makes sense!)

One more..... nearly flying

Cheers Mike, that makes perfect sense, I use the same trick when shooting moto gp and wsbk, which is bit easier because they are bigger and you know pretty much which line they are going to take as opposed to changing direction very quickly like the birds.

Re: Cheshire Show

I anjoyed looking at these shots Mike It looks like a great day out as well.

I also attempted to photograph a similar show while I was in Tenerife, great fun but like you I found it difficult and ended up with many shots of just sky or blurred sections of the birds. It makes it all the better when you do get a great shot though
