Chester Zoo....yawwwn

Anyway, i hit up Chester Zoo at the weekend. It rained. Then it rained some more.
The lions and Tigers stayed indoors, as did anything else of any real interest
Disapointing day overall, but the Otters lifted things a little with their semi retarded behaviour. Great fun.

Anyway, my favourite shot of the day:

Yep its soft, as are most of the shocking images i took on Saturday. Overall a disapointing day, but a lot of experience gained and a few lessons learned!

Couple sharper ones:

One or two came out ok, but i was kicking myself at the end of the day. Not only had the rain really ruined the whole affair, but id taken a much higher percentage of bad shots than ever before, and when you have all that variety on a plate in front of you, its annoying!!

Anyway, thanks for looking (and listening to my rant).

-Rich

Sorry you had bad weather for your trip. It is essential to pick good weather for Chester Zoo. I think your shots are good, but some of them have distracting backgrounds. Hard to get them to pose in the right place though. Did you see the Orangutangs? Pete and I saw them making umbrellas from bits of sacks they had lying around. Was fascinating to watch, if hard to photograph! The other problem I found with Chester Zoo is that they have too many narrow slit wire fences. Also difficult to overcome without a decent zoom lens.

Bad luck with the weather Rich. I've been twice recently, once in a heatwave, and once when it rained all day. Curiously, the rainy day was better - in the heat a lot of animals do the sensible thing and hide in the shade, so you just don't see them.

On the second occasion I was there with a bunch of peeps from this site, we had the zoo virtually to ouselves, being a weekday and raining. The Jaguar was much more co-operative, in fact one of his lady keepers was telling us he just doesn't come out at all when there are crowds about, but just a few people doesn't seem to phase him.

Never mind - at least it leaves it open for a re-visit. Number three is a cracker.

piccies are not too bad at all, you got some you can work on there and you learnt stuff on the day, so not wasted at all!

Sorry about the weather m8, although I can't remember the rain being too heavy or prolonged on my side of Chester....maybe it rained just for you

I never managed to make it to the TPF day at the zoo, shame really as it's 15 minutes drive for me and i've still got 2 tickets that get me in for ½ price

still, some nice images to remember the day with though.
