Re: Colour/Mono
Think both are cropped a little too tightly, but definitely colour-with-a-kick!

Re: Colour/Mono
Agree they are cropped a bit tight Mark. the first set of images I quite liked the mono, but now after this posting The colour has the edge for me. There are so many colours in that stone from green moss to lovely warm golds it would be a shame to remove them. I see some B&W shots I like, but have to say I love colour.

Re: Colour/Mono
Mono it is then
.One of the things I forgot about the 5060 is the amount of distortion at the wide end of the zoom [27mm].I had what I thought were frame filling shots of the building with enough 'breathing space' around them. However, when I corrected the converging verticals in Photoshop I ran out of of 'canvas'.In fact I had to do some cloning to the bottom right side of the Landscape format shot. But I am happy that the camera is good enough for A4 prints if required and I can use it as my 'cycling' camera .PS.these were shot in Raw,one of not many compact cameras that have this facility!. Sorry Whipspeed, you beat to the 'post'!.It's maybe mono then ![]()

Re: Colour/Mono
Looking at Mark's pimp, I switched from mono to colour as the initial image was rather flat. The punchy contrast makes it really stand out nicely.
The first picture stands out more as the colours and things there are stronger but there is something that doesn't quite look right, in either colour or mono. I am not sure whether the building is actually built strangely shaped or whether the picture has been distorted but it looks wider at the top than the bottom. It oculd be an optical illusion as the ascending verticals are slightly slanted anyway, not converging, just off perpendicular, even the FG wall. Anyway, the thread is about colour or mono so I'll set that aside. For me I like the colour best :o) Cheers, Rob ps Dave, you don't get three votes by saying it three times ![]()

Re: Colour/Mono
I like the colour version especially Marks enhance colour. That's a very strong point on the central right hand third. It really enhances the picture for me, as do the colours in Marks version.

Re: Colour/Mono
No probs Water, the pics still work well and indeed that distortion is giving it a sense of intrigue so it makes you look at it and wonder :o)
Got any more? ![]() Cheers, Rob |
