colour or mono

okies well i got portrait professional so decided to have a play............ got carried away and now i cant decide which one i like better...... so over to you lot..... have to say that the face looks softer on here with compression, its not as plasticy in the full res version honest!

These are very different images Fi. On here I think the Hi-Key one has lost a lot on the transitions between the light a shade, so the colour one does look better.

However it is not a level playing field.

for me B&W is better - maybe because it looks more arthistic with less details but most important .

FIONA, I AM A GREAT FAN OF MONO, BUT IN THIS CASE, I THINK THE COLOUR

I personally think you have lost too much detail in the mono conversion and the skin tones in the colour version are what carries this picture. As you say the compression is not helping you here.

Fi - is there any chance you could post the original, unprocessed shot by way of comparison... I must say that both versions look overly-processed to me but I'd need to see the source to make an accurate assesment.

I'm going to go with the colour one too I think, the mono one is just a little too light for me, having said that though, they are both very nice shots.
