Wonderful lighting on the statue. It could perhaps use a bit more contrast, but I think it's great regardless.

I think that first one's a question of it does exactly what it says on the label! You've caught that feeling well. I also like the statue and I know it must have been hard to get the lighting level dead right and still to achieve separation between it and the BG so despite the slight lack of dynamic range, it portrays the statue very well.

The statue is very good, though maybe a touch more contrast would help. The hand in the first is very dominant, and draws attention away from the subject ?wide-angle lens.

Thanks all. The problem with the statue was the daylight was all from above, I was about to fit the flash unit when somebody pointed out photography was not allowed So

Namllihs - I think flash would have killed this photo - all you need to do is apply more contrast in Photoshop. The exposure is spot on - the more I look at it, the more I like it.

Cheers Frank, the idea with the flash was to try to fill in the shadow area at the bottom to even out the exposure, as there was a big difference in the amount of light at the top of the statue compared to the bottom.
