Contrasting field

Hello all,

Bit new to all of this, so guidance is appreciated!

I passed this last week and marked the location so I could go back to it. I had to apply a bit of post-processing the contrast back up to how it actually looked - I was initially quite disappointed with the photos once I loaded them onto the PC, but it's quite surprising what you can bring out when you try.

I think the main focus I wanted the photo on was the contrasting colours of the field and the orange/brown, which was quite vivid. I brought out the sky quite a bit though, as it was fairly plain before. I think I've been staring at it too long now!

Anyway, the photo:

Re: Contrasting field

Hi Dominic + to pixalo

This is a great first post

Here are the bits I love: The lines, curves + shapes are great in this. You got a fair bit of texture in the ground which adds a lot of interest, so well done there. The colours are good, except the trees on the RHS are a bit flat 'cos they're in the shade.

My suggested improvements: I'd crop a bit off the top, down to the top of the RH trees. The sky kinda lets the side down, being rather insipid ... a few fluffy white clouds would've perked the image up tremendously.

Other than that, love it!

I took your advice and agree, that's improved it - it hadn't even crossed my mind to crop it. It draws your eye down to the ground better now. As for clouds... the weather's far too nice to have any around at the moment!
