Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
One of my regular haunts as it's only a couple of miles away. Taken this morning.
#1 Herring Gull I liked it's one legged stance. Just noticed what looks like a newly emerged dragonfly at the top of the post (you won't see it at this size); a bonus! ![]() Taken with Canon 350D (very kindly loaned to me) ![]() #2 Butterfly Think it's a Speckled Wood (and was in a wood!). Liked it for the glimpses of the lake through the trees, showing as blue ![]() #3 Spider I disturbed this spider (in one of those web funnels) eating it's lunch (luckily unidentifiable!) ![]() #4 Droplets Put this up earlier in the macro thread A different view of Macro photography ![]() Comments, good, bad or indifferent - all very welcome!

Re: Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
Great set of shots - No. 4 for me, the droplets remind me of a set of glass beads all strung on a very fine thread.

Re: Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
tsk tsk - lesser black backed!
Just a teensy bit overexposed but a very pleasing composition. You're right about #2, the blue in the background is a perfect foil to the brown butterfly. The very narrow depth of field is a bit offputting - particularly on the wing. Spider shot is really excellent with the sunlight coming through and dappling the spider's body and web. #4 - thumbs down. needs edge to edge sharpness, i'd bin this. |

Re: Cosmeston Lakes Country Park
The simplicity of composition of #1 makes it stand head and shoulders above the rest - even on one leg.
