Cosmeston Morning 1
OK, so I hadn't been out with my macro and this week was determined to get something. Really wanted to get the dragonflies, so planned on sunise start (when they're cool and so slow - have to rest/sunbathe often!). Both yesterday and today I was awake at 4:00 but the skies stayed resolutely grey (no worries, back to sleep!).
Well, decided to go out later this morning as forecast claimed skies would clear...... and they did! ![]() All the shots here (and the ones I'll put up tomorrow) were taken over the 2 hours I grabbed this morning 1 Pond Robin Not a great one for Robin shots but couldn't resist trying to get this one. Like it for the setting/background albeit that it's a little noisy (sun wasn't yet out!) ![]() 2 Bee Orchid Was hoping the Orchids were out - stacks of Common Spotted but only a couple of Bee (that I found - but they're rarer) ![]() 3 Common Blue Damselfly And plenty of my old friends the Damselfly! ![]() 4 Common Spotted Orchid Found a group of spikes in amongst the Snapdragons - and thought it sufficiently different/interesting to nab a shot ![]() ![]() 5 Pollen Thief Don't know what these iridescent beetle are called but they aren't rare! Loads on the dog roses! Oh, and whilst I'd have probably cropped this a little, I saw the little fella in the bottom right, so kept it in! ![]() ![]() Comments good, bad, indifferent all gratefully received! ![]() I'll upload the other half of the morning tomorrow!

Re: Cosmeston Morning 1
Thanks Jack! TBH, I probably like macro best of all. The thrill of the chase - butterflies (tho' only cabbage whites today!), dragonflies, etc - and there's always something new/different. Makes a change from boring landscapes, anyway!

Absolutely, but I can't really imagine describing your landscapes as boring....

Re: Cosmeston Morning 1
Very striking shots Mark
The damselfly looks like it's got blue tape wrapped all down its body

Re: Cosmeston Morning 1
Many thanks for the comments!
Can't go wrong with a roll of blue tape, Charlotte! Tho just got hold of some red - maybe keep for officialdom! ![]() Apparently, if you're an insect, you see the orchid shape and think it's another insect, Van, so don't mind visiting (orchids don't produce nectar, so rely on subterfuge!) Critters are always best, Sil! |
