Like the flower frame in #1 tho' would prefer no flash (goes a touch flat with harsh shadows) and I'd like to see the frame burned back so it's not competing with the flower
Nicely controlled exposure in #2 - think you've cropped a little too close to the chin but a good result, nonetheless |

I agree with Mark about number two - it's very nearly right but the chin seems a bit too close to the bottom of the photo.
Using a tripod with no flash for the first shot would have avoided the harsh light and shadows, but it's a nice attempt.

Well, I rely on daylight as I don't really do indoor, studio type shots. But them that do use lights. And you can use any lights, combinations even, but be careful re. White Balance which might need setting to offset the effect of tungsten lighting. Trial and error is the best way!
