A couple from my weekend in Anstruther
Over the Easter weekend I was up in Anstruther in Scotland for a festival organised by Fence Records where a lot of their signed bands and other 'friends' play small intimate gigs sometimes with as few as 8 people attending. I took lots of photos when I was there in December (HERE) but this time it was mainly concentrated on taking shots of the bands whilst they played.
Here are a few, more on my Flickr stream. As always each image is a hot link to the respective Flickr photo page where larger sizes and .exif can be seen. All were taken with the 24-105f/4L strapped to my trusty EOS 350D Comments welcome ![]() The Jose ![]() Things In Herds ![]() Down The Tiny Steps ![]() Gummi Bako ![]() The Great Park ![]() Adem ![]() Alasdair Roberts ![]() Malcolm Middleton ![]()

Re: A couple from my weekend in Anstruther
Nice series. I think the ones without the background clutter work the best.
Did you use flash? Did your camera make a shutter noise? Was it intrusive for the musicians or was the music so loud that it didn't make a difference? ![]() skip |

I didn't use flash at all as all I have is the onboard flash. I had to up the ISO quite significantly for the 'darker' shots and to make sure that my shutter speed stayed above or around the 1/50th mark (to minimise motion blur), I also underexposed by one or two stops and recovered in RAW. The camera did make a shutter noise but really it didn't put the artists off (there were some people there using P&S with a flash throughout the sets) though I am sure they heard it when i was literally 10' away from them in the smaller gigs. The larger gigs (the darker shots) had about 300 there and though I was right at the front the artists wouldn't have heard the shutter. |
