I think I prefer No1, it's just a pity about that large, dark tree intruding into both shots. Without it they both would've been a load better.

Agreed - I like number 1, but I think if you aimed a bit to the left to exclude the dark trees, it could be much nicer.

I think in the second one you've cropped too close to the top of the houses and it makes it feel a bit cramped.
