A couple of Woodland Monos
OK this 1st shot was just outside the woodlands
Might have to revist & shoot when the sun isn't so strong to the right :-![]() This one was in the woodland, but feel there is too much detail fighting for attention. Good practice for converting to Mono though ![]() ![]() Thanks for looking

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
Nice shots Dave. I like #1, and I think the relatively plain sky is the perfect backdrop. If the sky was any buisier it would take your eye away from the tree too much.
Agree with your comments re #2. It's always difficult to get this sort of woodland shot with just the right amount of detail. As you say, everything competes with each other. |

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
Shot number one takes the cake for me. As usual, I can't tell if its the image I love, or the mono work.
"Cracking shot" as you fellows like to say.

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
Well the old Sigma 10-20mm gives a good perspective on the 1st shot.....I do love that lens

#1 for me. The simplicity and tonal range. I'd be tempted to remove the cloud by the trunk tho' acknowledge that is being overly fussy maybe
#2, as you say, is a little 'busy' |

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
Ref clouds I waited a couple of mins for them to move from over the top of the tree, but those others were there to stay. I'll go back on a day with no clouds

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
number 1 is my favourite, the tree on its own evokes so many different feelings. and the way the light is catching it is just wonderful!

Re: A couple of Woodland Monos
You've certainly coped well with the harsh sunlight while keeping lots of detail in both shots, with no.1 being my favourite composition wise
