Craigmiller and Crichton
at last a day out with the camera! lol
The first one i know isnt perfect, it was hand held but i love the three different colours at the light....... yellow in the bottom left. blue in the middle and red at the light on the right..... the rest are a selection of a couple of hundred............ as always honest opinions are always welcome. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Fi |

Re: Craigmiller and Crichton
I've put a couple of comments in the gallery, Fi. Looks like a good day for photography. No need to ask if you enjoyed the day!

Re: Craigmiller and Crichton
Some really good work here Fiona, stuff here you wouldn't have produced a year ago that's for sure
Some comments on each:1: not keen. I like the composition and the colour of the brickwork but the light on the right is too distracting. However, I know exactly what you mean about the colours, so good attempt to capture them. 2: Nicely composed, good lead-in lines. The house looks a tad soft but might be due to compression. Very pleasant shot with a nice balance to it. 3: Well taken ruin. It feels like what it is, a part of a whole. But the layout is very well done and I like seeing off into the dsitance so that it has plenty of context. 4: Like this a lot, love the different coloured brickwork and the contrast with the FG greenery and the azure to pale blue fade of the sky. Good shot. 5: Good shot, a touch too much sky but not overly so, well focused and exposed. 6: Rotate this slightly counter-clockwise as it is leaning to the right but despite that it is my favourite without a doubt. Really well done treatment and excellent lighting with plenty of detail in the shadows and in the light areas so not over-exposed. Very slightly tight at the top, especially as you had plenty at the bottom you could have lost. If this is a crop, try it again with a touch of rotate. It's worth it as it is a cracking shot. 7: A bit flat for my liking, the light could be lifted at the lower end of the luminance scale to give a touch more detail in the shadows but also to allow for greater contrast overall. Still a very pleasant shot though and I like the composition. All in all an excellent day's work there Fi, really good job. Well done ![]() Cheers, Rob

Re: Craigmiller and Crichton
Nice shots.I cycle by Crighton Castle quite a lot but have never gone in
.I only carry an Olympus 35mm fixed lens film camera when cycling,or no camera at all !!!.I agree with some of Robs' comments and I too think number 6 is a fine shot.I often make the mistake [especially a mistake now I am digital] of not taking 'extra' shots of a subject from differing angles. For me personally, assuming the church wall was not in the way, on photo 6 I would have come round to the left 15-20 feet or so to give a slightly more frontal view. But thats what I usually say of my own stuff . Again, nice shots

Further to my last post, here is another pimp, and you don't have to visit the gallery to see it!
