Here goes.........1st post and 1st picture I'm almost happy with. Was playing around with some black card as a background and some mini-lights.

Lots of inspirational stuff here. thanks to everyone who has shared their thoughts and pics.

My only comment here would be that, given the subject matter, this might look better in colour

Welcome to Pixalo MrShowJumper

There is a debate on whether flowers and mono are good bedmates, and the majority, as Angela said, come down on the side of colour.

This is a pleasant enough picture, but I have to throw my hat in the colour camp to get the best from it.

I, on the other hand, am a believer in black and white flower shots when the correct opportunity presents itself. I like the simplicity of the tones here, and I think that had it been in colour, and if this daff is indeed yellow, then the black background wouldn't have worked.

Interesting differences of opinion regarding black and white for flowers. Will dig out the original colour version later on.
