Dali and The Wheel
The Dali exhibit and London Eye just felt 'right' together so I thought I'd link the two together. There is considerable foreshortening here so the elephantine sculpture looks closer to the Eye than it really is. Please note, the elephants 'legs' are NOT too thin here, they are part of the Dali composition! :o)
Hope you like it. Cheers, Rob ![]() |

Re: Dali and The Wheel
Hello stranger
Are all your exams out the way now? Are you allowed to come out to play now ![]() I struggled to shoot the wheel in any decent kind of composition, so fair play to you sir |

Re: Dali and The Wheel
LOL, yup I am allowed tyo play now.... until Wednesday when I start marking exam papers
I have to get the entire lot (600 papers, each with two pieces of writing so 1,200 essays in total) in three weeks... whilst working full time!I dunno, I get myself free of being the examined and now am lumbered with being the examiner LOL. Still, if I want my new, all-singing all dancing, super powerful computer with two prcoessors, a terabyte of hard drive space, powerful graphics card and 4Gbs of RAM, I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and keep my head down ![]() I have taken a few more shots that hopefully will be good enough to put on here and I promise to try and get on every couple of days to post a few crits for other people. I hate expecting people to offer comments to me if I am not doing the same for others. Cheers guys, Rob

Re: Dali and The Wheel
Great color, great composition and creative, interesting approach to capturing the "Eye". Seems that there is a bit of leaning inward of both subjects... or are my eyes deceiving me?

Re: Dali and The Wheel
If I'm being honest, and I'm sure you'd want me to be Rob,
I think there's a bit too much going on and my eye is wandering all over the shot but not settling on any one thing. But the colours and sharpness are superb. |

Re: Dali and The Wheel
That's interesting Angela, and yes of course I'd want you to be honest
![]() I must confess I am a bit surprised that you feel it is too busy. I deliberately cropped away as much from the bottom as possible to avoid that and thought the two main focal points are now the sculpture and the wheel with the Dali banners linking them together. That was my aim anyway. Is there too much happening in the sky perhaps? Mind you, I took it for that sky as I loved it so I guess it is all down to how we each perceive pictures. I'm glad you said it, does anyone else get the same feeling? I would genuinely like to know as it wasn't how I saw the shot so I'd love to hear from other sets of eyes so to spoke. You're not wrong about the slight lean Paul, indeed, because of the angle you are forced to take this shot from, the original angle was much more acute so I pulled it out a touch as the Eye and the sculpture were too much towards each other. Cheers, Rob |
