A day at Brands Hatch
I took myself off to Brands Hatch yesterday to give my new Sigma 70 - 200 a really good test drive. Dod thanks for your tip on removing the tripod collar made life a little easier holding it.
I also tried out the "sports setting" and yes they came out ok but just didn't give the feeling of movement or speed so switched over and set shutter speed to 1\100 and let the camera work out the aperture. Here are four from yesterday, I think the shutter speed maybe a little to slow, focal length was between about 80 - 100mm. One. ![]() Two. ![]() Three. ![]() Four. ![]() All coments are most welcome, thanks for taking the time to look |

You have to be kidding if you feel you didnt quite capture that impression of speed - I think the last two look like their really flooring it, and the first two still look like theres alot of speed.
The second could be alittle sharper, but having said that with the focal lengths used Im amazed you could track these things as they went by. Also you got the wheels with alot of spinning blur which is great. More vibrant colours would be desirable but I guess you have had the same weather as we're having up here so not alot can be done about that. Very good & thanks for sharing

Thanks for your coments Warspite, there was a little bit of sunshine but not much, plus I got so cold I wasn't sure if it was camera or body shake that was sending some of them way OOF!!!
I'll be going back for the Super bikes this weekend and having never taken photo's of high speed bikes it should be fun. |

Hi Dave, Great pics, Ive done shots at brands before several times (WSBK), one of the best places I find is coming out of druids and round the back of the track, at 1/250th ss and panning you can still get the impression of speed, try tracking them in the viewfinder whilst panning.
