Derbyshire Views

OK, some pics I've got in the last week of the area around here

#1 Corn Field
Taken a week ago on my journey up, just outside Ashbourne - the sunlight was coming across this field of, I think, young corn

#2 Farmhouse
A fortuitously built farmhouse catching the sun!

#3 Stone Wall
Taken yesterday, en route to Glossop - the excuse for the shot was the wall, the reason was the patch of blue sky

#4 Deer
Chestnut Centre, Chapel-En-Le- Frith

#5 Wall Shadows
Taken last night - typical Derbyshire evening light with the lovely shadows cast by the stone walls

Comments - good, bad, indifferent all very welcome!

Re: Derbyshire Views

I was half expecting to see pictures of/from a raft!

Looks like you are having a good break so far.

#1 - super clouds and the corn looks great, but the FG shadow is a bit of a spoiler.
#2 - nice effect, but why are the trees not lit also?
#3 - like the layers and the sky is well moody.
#4 - FG shadow is distracting for me.
#5 - As you say, a typical English scene with great lighting.

Re: Derbyshire Views

A very pleasing set showing off Derbs. The first two have it for me because of the sheer magnitude of the clouds which have exposed very well.

Re: Derbyshire Views

Thanks guys! Appreciate the comments

Now you see I really liked being in the shade with the light coming into the field in #1!
The sun was lighting up the farmhouse and that cloud, but little else (and trees were well forward of the house)

Get yer walking boots on, P-E!

1 and 5 are my favourites. I like the clouds in 1 and the relaxing mood in 5

Well, if it makes you feel better, it was perishing in the wind last night - to get that final shot!

Ummm, v little, really. Use the excellent Sigma RAW conversion and aim to up the highlights whilst lowering the shadows - tho usually v little needed (or possible!), as was the case here.

Load into PS and a touch of Dodge and Burn. TBH, the "original" RAW and the processed end result are very similar. If it's not there to see there's little chance of "creating" it!
