Donna Nook : Grey Seals

Hey folks, I'm finally getting round to sharing a few shot's from my visit to Donna Nook in Lincolnshire at the start of December for the annual Grey Seal pup birthing.

Unfortunately I arrived 1 or 2 weeks early this year (only time I could get there ) and as such there wern't as many seals as usual, with virtually none out on the sand flats which mean't I had to make do with getting shots of the seals on the grassy dunes. Condition's this year wern't great with a wicked wind that had ruined many a shot when I finally got to view these on my PC... lol, oh well, we live and learn

I'll try and post up a few more when I get a chance to process them, including some of the pups...

...Thanks for looking, and as allways C & C is welcome

Re: Donna Nook : Grey Seals

love the differential focus on the first one! and the expression is so sweet!. second one i like as well..... but it would be nice for the left hand seal to be more apart frmo the background. may destaurating the BG a tad for it to stand out!

Reall nice set tho!

Re: Donna Nook : Grey Seals

Love the first one, second one is technically poor because of the amount of light reflections (nothing you could do about that) but I love it, it really made me laugh.

3rd one is kinda cute but doesn't do an awful lot for me.

Love the set and definitely want to see more of them Iain.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Donna Nook : Grey Seals

Like everyone I love the first one, the focus is excellent and the light is lovely. I like 2 as well, a good humurous shot. 3 does less for me, although it's quite cute.

Re: Donna Nook : Grey Seals

First one seems a tad flat, but is a wonderful emotive image.

The second may be helped by a left crop to delete some of the body and put the two heads in the thirds.

Yes, they really are very nice. The last one reminds me of my cat when he's just eaten.

Re: Donna Nook : Grey Seals

Thanks for all the comments everyone

This was my second trip to Donna Nook and as such I wanted to try and change things up a little with slightly different compositions etc... as some of you have already commented, some work quite well, some not so well. I'm glad I tried though as allthough I've come away with less keeper's I feel I have a bit more of an understanding of how to achieve the results I want, which is allways a good thing in my book!
