Dragonflys
Its been a while but I have finally managed to pick up my camera and take some shots while on a recent break to Provence in Southern France.
These where all shot early morning as the dragonflys were drying their wings in the sun after the overnight dew. Canon 20D, 70-200L, Kenko 300DG pro 1.4X convertor, f.5.6 handheld. Comments always welcomed ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'll start a seperate thread somethime soon for the 'scenic' shots from the same trip

Re: Dragonflys
second by a mile steve. Rim lighting, detail on wings and composition are all spot on.

Re: Dragonflys
Outstanding work Steve
I'll break from the pack and say no.1 is the shot I like the best, wonderful background and with the dragonfly being offset would make this a great publishing/advertising photo.

Re: Dragonflys
I'm with the other guys, number 2 is my favourite. Just a shame about the little bit of detail lost due to flair, though i don't think it detracts from the image.
If only i could drag myself out of bed a lttle earlier maybe i'd see some of the nice light you've managed to capture here.... Good shots! |

Re: Dragonflys
All are truly excellent and I cannot pick a favourite, I'd be happy with any of these.

Re: Dragonflys
They make a nice, complementary trio - number 3 for me: detail, comp and focus!

Re: Dragonflys
Thanks for the replies kind people. My personal favourite is number two as well, I just love the 'freckles' and smilie face

Re: Dragonflys
I would feel so proud to have taken any of these great shots.
For me - as a composition no2 but no3 has more highlight on the 'fly. I often wonder how it long takes to get these type of shots. I normally see an insect on a flower - and then it's gone! Jeff |
