Extreme Macro - Bug with Hat
Following my review of the MP-E 65mm I thought you might like an example of what this lens can do.
Requirements...non moving bug (couldn't fly off due to the recent rain)..focusing rail, flash and the lens. Taken on a 10D Canon. This is almost it's maximum magnification at about 4.8x lifesize. Any closer on the focus meant the flash would be on the bug too! ![]() |

Great shot, Chris. I'm so jealous. The MP-E65 and MT-24EX are both very much on my wishlist!

Re: Extreme Macro - Bug with Hat
Yes, I highly recommend the MT-24EX flash. I had first that with my 100mm Macro Lens (still use this a lot as it's a really useful all purpose macro and the high mags are not always so easy to get due to having to be so close to the subject) and it makes a big difference to the images you can get, particuarly if like me you like to get wildlife / flowers on the macro. Really helps on windy days!
I find it a decessity with this lens, it means you can shoot at 1/200th sec to minimize shake and movement which at high magnification can be movement the amount of a pinhead shifting it out of focus! |
