Eye of the Tiger
I was doing a little housecleaning of stray files on the laptop the other day prior to doing a wipe / reinstall of WinXP (had been playing up for a few days) and I came across some NEF files I'd almost forgotten about.
The following shots were taken during a three week trip to North America - these ones in particular at a zoo in south New Jersey. I'd only gotten my 70-200VR lens a week before heading over there so this was my first 'real' test of the lens. Here she is just getting out of the "bath" ![]() and now drying off in the sun, but annoyed by the noise the cougar next door is making ![]() if anyone ever wonders if they should get a 70-200VR lens, just look at the detail it can resolve. The following is a 100% crop from shot #2, showing pixel-for-pixel detail as captured. ![]() Granted it was shot on a D2X, but you'd get nearly the same detail with a D200, D80 or D40x ![]() Last edited by VikingPhotography : 11-05-2007 at 14:22. Reason: added clarification re shot #3 |

Re: Eye of the Tiger
Fine shots. I think that compression has lost some detail on the eye, though.
Sometimes it pays to go back through old shots to retrieve treasure. If one has the time ![]() skip |

Re: Eye of the Tiger
First two are excellent VP
![]() I'd be tempted to crop the dead space off the RHS (beyond the paw) on the 2nd one. Third one is a bit soft + a lot of noise in the eye. First one is definitely my favourite, + you caught the water dripping from her beautifully |

Re: Eye of the Tiger
LOL! I should have more clearly pointed out that shot #3 is a 100% crop showing the detail resolved in shot #2
To better explain. If you were to print shot #1 out at 12 x 8", the crop would represent section of the photograph just 1.12" high by 1.69" wide... hence my comment about the resolving capability of the lens ![]() |
