Female Red-Bellied Woodpecker #2

I refilled the holes in my perches today with peanut butter and watched in hopes of catching the Male,, not today.. The female came back a few times and I kind of like this pose I got. Technicals about like previous, F4.5 @ 650MM..

Superb as usual Keith. You really have got a superb talent for ornithological shots.

Just one thing, why is this called a red-bellied anything? The red seems to be on the back of its neck! Oh well, guess they had their reasons. Maybe the male has a red belly?

Thanks everyone for the kind comments and too Rob... Most do have a red bellie,, but the red portion is very difficult to see,, it is the portion right between their legs that usually stays right against the limb they are on.. I will look around for a shot that shows the red bellie better...... Thanks again......

Wow, are you a professional? This is amazing. I love the whole thing, the position, the clarity, the colours, absolutely fantastic. My camera only has a small zoom, I want to get a digital SLR but I have to wait for a while. One day!

Thanks very much for the great compliments..... NO ,, I am not a professional.... I just really enjoy feeding and photographing the birds in my backyard.... Having them close sure makes a lot difference.......Thanks again........
