Re: Fences

Interesting studies in light and shadow, but what are you trying to say here?

And I really am not that fond that the major subjects are all centered.

If you look at the telly, you will see that the people and other other images of importance are nearly always off center to give dynamic impact.

Re: Fences

I know Skip has this need for a picture to tell a story and, in a lot of cases, it does help to make a picture but, I think here you have such strong images that they don't need to "say" anything. They are stunning images!

Re: Fences

I read several stories in these photos. I love that they are somewhat centered - they sit right in that "stillness" zone - which is part of the story I read. Fenced in, no action, cobwebbed.

Also love the detail in the cut of the chain-link.

The first shot is my fav.

Re: Fences

i agree with what Angela is saying...... in most cases yep a pic needs to tell a story.... but its abstract and as such if there is a story it may not be apparent what it is. a bit like an abstract shot should be...... i like them.... i think the images themselves are a little flat with a general lack of contrast but that may just my taste, the subject is hard and i think the lighting should be as well to match it ( hope im making sense)

Re: Fences

So far these are my favorite images of yours. I like the abstract quality and the centering of the image doesn't bother me in any of these images.

The first one has the faint cob webs leading the eyes to either side.

The second and third both have good depth to them with the repeating images.

Just my .02
