Fireworks...my first try
Actually these are my first long exposures ever!
I figured I would give it a shot the other night (Canada Day, July 1) and see what I could get. I did not have my remote yet, so I was not too hopeful. Was able to borrow a tripod that is built like fort knox (manfrotto 028)...it had a video head so was a bit awkward, but it was just for practice. Anyway, I am SO excited that I got some good shots!!! And I sure learned a lot. Excuse the power lines, next year I will move out into the lane to avoid them. (really was not expecting it to matter, as I didn't think I was going to get anything worth keeping...once I get good enough with photoshop perhaps I can remove them.) I do like the neighbor's weather vane though . These were taken in my back yard. ![]() \![]() Already planning for next year, will have a wider angle lens by then...and a powerline free vantage point from the back lane! (#2 is a bit big, but it seemed to loose too much sharpness when I compressed it more...) |

Re: Fireworks...my first try
Well done Beanpod. Great shots for a first time
You ought to be able to clone out the power wires quite easily and that will improve the shots even more. |

Re: Fireworks...my first try
Thanks you guys!
So nice to have shots turn out better than expected! I did have a lot of duds, lens was not wide enough to capture everything so lots of chopped off stuff. And some were so overexposed that had I been shooting film, I bet there would have been holes burned in it . And of course some blurry ones, as I had to manually push the shutter. But it was a great learning experience for me, that is for sure. Being a small town, our fireworks only last about 15 minutes, so there is not a lot of time to make adjustments...gotta plan ahead and just go with it. I'll play with ps a bit to get those lines out. Thanks again for your encouragement! ![]() |

Re: Fireworks...my first try
Well done
I have tried and tried for years to get some decent shots of fireworks and have never managed it. I know all the theory etc but every time I try They just don't come out right. |
