First pics Nikon D200

My new camera has arrived. I've just made the move from Minolta to Nikon.

These shots were taken with the D200 fitted with their 18-200mm DX lens.
I have cropped these shots but they have not had any other processing.

Natural light zoomed in.

Wide angle.

Using on-board flash at a range of about 8ft.

Indoors with no flash. Part of a sequence of 20 or so shots.

I can't wait to see how it holds up shooting motocross

You have been putting it through it's paces here. #2 looks great. How do you find the way it handles?

I've been a Minolta user since I was about 10yo so this is a big change for me...

I like the feel of the camera, it's heavy but well balanced. The shutter release is slick and the buttons, menus, etc seem to be fairly good.

The one thing I'm not to impressed with is the instruction book. I find it a little hard to follow with to may "see page blah blah blah" bits in it. Not really a big problem though

It seems to handle most things well. I've not experimented to much yet but the AF is quick even when zooming from one extreme to the other.

My next MX meet is next Sunday so I'll be able to tell you more then.

Try this guide by Thom Hogan. I used the one for the d70 and it was terrific. Clear, concise, complete with a lot of cool setup tips and suggestions.

I assume that his guide for the d200 is the same.
