This is my 9 year old focusing on the strategy of the game as explained by his lacrosse coach. The sharpness seems a little beat down with the resizing, but I tried to give his eyes "somewhere to go" in the image. Thoughts welcome.

I think you hit the nail on the head with this comment. With your boy seeming to be looking out of the shot, you can't see what he is focusing on. On that basis it makes it hard for the pose to be taken into context of what is going on. I also found the blue in shot in different areas kept pulling my eye.

Sooooo, tried converting to Mono to eliminate colour pull, sharpened & then added Omni light to face to pull attention to your boy, rather than rest of shot. Not sure if it came off, but at least another idea to play with

That looks great! I didn't realize how much the image did pull away from his face until it was mono and you regained the original sharpness I had in the one on my laptop. As if my photo skills weren't tough enough to improve, I have to battle my image manipulation skills as well. Thanks for your input.
