Frosty Start
Thought I'd better take "advantage" of one of the last of the frosty mornings - so off to Curbar Gap to give it a whirl up there
#1 Early ![]() Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, f/22, 4 secs, ISO100, Tripod #2 Not Quite So Early ![]() Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 10mm, f/16, 1/30, ISO100, Tripod #3 First Find Your Sheep..... and then get 'em signed up sharpish ![]() ![]() Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 14mm, f/16, 1/50, ISO100, Tripod #4 Larking Around Only sounds up on the top were larks, a lapwing, a pheasant and a grouse! Personally, like this for showing context/habitat but appreciate others will think you need to see only the bird ![]() Canon 350D, 300mm f4 IS, 1.4x TC, f/5.6, 1/160, ISO100, HH #5 Homeward Up above Bakewell saw the light/cloud and stopped to grab a couple of shots ![]() Canon 350D, Sigma 10-20mm @ 17mm, f/16, 1/25, ISO100, CP, HH All comments very welcome! ![]()

Re: Frosty Start
Beautiful morning Mark, one that makes you feel glad to be around
![]() Agree with you on the bird shot, the habitat is good to see. Number 2 seems very noisy compared to the others, have you done anything with it? I didn't realise you needed a model release for sheep though? |

#2 was me trying to get the flippin' manual exposure right (I always use Exp Comp on my Sigma - for some reason Canon only go down to -2, possibly because if you go below that it can't cope with the dynamic range). Sheep complain a lot unless you get that all important release (and I've been head butted by one - not an experience I want repeated!) |

Re: Frosty Start
Fabulous set - I love frosty mornings. #1 is my favourite, as there's a really nice balance to the shot with the silhouetted tree, tufts and distant sky

Many thanks for the comments - appreciated!
Yeah, looks unsettled for a few more days - last night was a fab light @ sunset - but of course I didn't get out to grab a shot! ![]() |

Re: Frosty Start
#3 is brilliant. Very nice set, although I'm sure you could've lightened the foreground a teeny bit in the first two?

Re: Frosty Start
Cheers, Jack!
Should've/could've or did lighten? I did but conditions were dark enough again that I wished I'd brought a torch! |

Re: Frosty Start
Fair enough, you did well then, I just thought there might be a bit more information there that you could lighten up the foreground a bit to make it a little more prolific, not that they're bad atm.
As an aside, do you ever go on MSN mark? ![]() |
