Full Snowy Day
Thought I'd upload a full day of being out and about in the snow in Mid Wales. Taken the day following my previous thread's pics. What more can you ask for than great company and a day in the snow?!
![]() Although I did get shots earlier, I liked this one (taken from the front door!) for the combination of early sun and frosty ground giving a plain and simple view of the conditions. Morning Frost ![]() The day was slightly cloudier than the previous, so could avoid the full sun and the contrasty result The Gate ![]() Deliberately kept the colour in this - a composite of two pics to ensure I minimised the resulting burned sun The Sun ![]() Late afternoon and so a return to the warmer colours The Hill ![]() Final shot of Llyn Clywedog ![]() As always, welcome any comments: good, bad or indifferent! ![]()

Re: Full Snowy Day
I know I keep saying this but, I really have got to learn your post processing skills.
The skies are really making the pictures for me. Last edited by Soupdragon : 02-02-2007 at 07:30. Reason: typo |

Re: Full Snowy Day
Actually PML on the last two
![]() On to the pictures...the thing that really makes all these work for me is the use of the light. You have shady and sun kissed areas in all the shots and that really adds to the texture, detail and contrasts. The subject matter isn't bad either but without the knowledgable timing of the shots to make use of the light, these would me much, much weaker. A very good set Mark |

Re: Full Snowy Day
Where's that abuse button?
Thanks, Steve, tho' I do have to say that the light thing is more luck than judgement. OK, I might happen to point the camera to make best use of, but I really don't often hang around waiting for "the right moment". If I have to wait more than a minute than the subject's just not photogenic! ![]() |

Re: Full Snowy Day
I read what you are saying and I probably should have said that you took advantage of the light to add to the images.
In your case you have been very honest and admitted that you have no patience for chasing the good light, but in this set of shots you have managed to capture it none the less and they are so much stronger due to that ![]() |

Re: Full Snowy Day
Don't big him up too much.
They were originally shots of a public toilet but he's so good at post processing the average viewer can hardly see the brickwork. ![]() |

Re: Full Snowy Day
I like them all but two and four are stunning. I would happily buy either one as a framed image.... except I can't bring myself to buy other people's photos as people always look at them and say 'did you take that Rob?' and I have to just say 'In my dreams!'
Great stuff here, not really grabbed by No3 but so what, goreous lighting has brought you some cracking shots. PMSL at Soup's comment though ![]() Cheers, Rob |
