In the garden

Thought I would do something for a last and final photo post for this year!!!
I think I might be opening a riggly can of worms here as a members thread about editting your photo's has stuck in my mind.
I promise that the next six photos all that I have done to them in PS is to save for the webb, also I haven't put them through Noiseware. They are straight from the camera.

Re: In the garden

These work fine Davey and no need to worry about what post-processing work you do. The vast majority of people do some kind of processing, be that minor adjustments or major cloning. We look at your pictures as pictures.

The one thing that I am not sure about here is whether you used a tripod or not. I am guessing you might not have and with such slow shutter speeds, down to 1/20th sec for some, this would account for the lack of shaprness as a lot of them are not as well-focused as I would prefer. If you did use a tripod, did you use manual focusing or AF? A prime 50mm macro lens should be much sharper than this but hand-held would make it very difficult at such slow shutter speeds.

Keep in mind that the slowest hand-held shutter speed should, as a general rule, be at least the reciprocal of the focal length. In other words, if you have a 200mm lens, the minimum shutter speed should be 1/200th second. So in this case, each shot should be a minimum of 1/50th second and I would recommend going to 1/125th to get really clear and sharp shots.

Hope that all makes sense.
Cheers and happy new year to you too :o)

Rob

Re: In the garden

Rob all were taken freehand plus there was a bit of a wind blowing so that may account for lack of sharpness in them.

Maybe I should have stayed in but had a bug in me to go take some photos
