In the garden
Just messing around with a few shots today. Quite like this one after cropping and giving a sepia tone. Highlights a little blown out but nice interation between the 5 and 2 year old.

Re: In the garden
A well captured moment Matt. I think sepia suits pictures of period origins or styles best, but am willing to be proven wrong! Any chance of posting the colour version?

Re: In the garden
Here we go:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...DSC_1289v2.jpg I tried normal B&W too which I think worked better than colour but then I thought sepia had the edge. Both B&W and sepia work better to my eyes as the textures are brought out better. Matt. Last edited by Sonsey : 02-04-2007 at 02:03. Reason: Pic broke the Pixalo 200kb limit |

Re: In the garden
Thanks Matt. I think you like the sepia because it tends to minimise the burning out issue, and that is a hell of a good reason for liking it! I think there is a bit more contrast in the sepia one too, probably bringing out a bit more detail. But my vote would go the the colour image on the grounds that it is more comtemporary and fits the image better. In this instance, the subject over-rides the texture, which I think would be more central to the image if it were a still life or close up of a natural subject. Just my opinion of course.
I think there is a bit more to come from the colour version too.

Re: In the garden
Love the sepia one Matt
![]() Funny thing ... although comparing the 2 versions they look to be the same crop, the colour one looks like it could do with some cropping, whereas the sepia one doesn't seem to need any cropping Another reason to choose the sepia one, which looks good as is, over the colour one, which would need some work, so I'm with you on that score, Matt

Re: In the garden
Wonderful shot Matt & one I know Grandma would have on the wall in no time
![]() Here's a tweaked version from the colour shot you posted. Used the "shadow/highlight" tool at 100% highlights & then slight sharpen .... ![]() Did you shoot with RAW, as you may find you can save a portion of the blown highlights if you did ? |
