Gatecrasher fire Sheffield

Hopefully I may get a showing in the papers, but who knows.

I sent off four shots in total but the police were making access very difficult.

What is, or was, Gatecrasher? Club? Looks well alight

Cheers mate, Gatecrasher is a very big nightclub, famous all across the country, people come from miles to go for a night out there, or did. It will be a car park by morning. Glad to see someone notice the effort that goes into seemingly normal shots of a fire like this. I waited about 5 mins for the wind to blow the smoke away from the sign so I could get a shot of the the sign in the pic as well.

Nothing escapes me!

Wouldn't have been top PJ without the sign - just good PJ! Worth the wait! Be surprised if one of the rags doen't take the shots

The trick is getting them to them on time and first. I always imagine a picture editor sat at his/her desk waiting for a shot to come in so that they can go home/pub, and the first pic in will usually be the one that gets used.

Oh! I've always assumed they'd been to the pub first, seeing as they're usually visually illiterate - always wonder if they're naturally so or there's special training!

I've seen a few pictures of it on flickr.....that's where I first heard about it although I did see the smoke through the window.

Local reports are that there were five members of staff in the building and they are treating the fire as suspicious

EDIT: Not now being treated as suspicious.

No showing im afraid for this one. If it does turn out to be a bit suss then at least they already have the images on file.
